Let’s get in the holiday gift-giving spirit with these eco-friendly wooden toy gift ideas!

The Christmas shopping season is already in full swing! If you’re like me and like to get your shopping list completed early, this post will be super handy. You see, I’ve partnered with a company called Smiling Tree Toys to bring you a gift guide of sorts. I’ll be sharing about this company, their brand, what makes their products sustainable and three of their wooden toy products. Let’s get a move on your holiday shopping with these eco-friendly wooden toy gift ideas!

Affiliate Disclaimer: The toys in this post have been kindly gifted from Smiling Tree Toys. All photos, opinions, and ideas are my own.

About Smiling Tree Toys

I am so proud to be partnering with this Minnesota based company. Justin and Kathleen are the owners and founders of Smiling Tree Toys. Their mission is simple…”to create lifelong childhood memories for families and green the Earth for all kids to come.”

Self-proclaimed ‘tree huggers’, the purpose behind their toys is an amazing trifecta of sustainable living. It goes like this.
1) A toy is purchased, which offers children safe, natural, and long-lasting keepsakes.
2) For each toy purchased, a tree is planted for a low-income family.
3) With the help of that tree, income is generated from being able to grow food, helping to sustain a family.

To date, Smiling Tree toys has planted 111, 751 trees! That’s just incredible.

You can find their website, and many more wooden toy products, HERE. Stay tuned to the end of the post for a special discount code just for you!

Eco-Friendly Living

If you have been around here for any length of time, you know how passionate I am about sustainable and eco-friendly living. It’s why I’m all about thrifting and using secondhand items in my home.

Being environmentally friendly is a choice that all of us can make. It can be a small switch such as using re-useable straws or biodegradable dog waste bags. There can also be a larger effort to live sustainably. This could include things such as composting food waste, purchasing thrifted clothing, or making it a point to only buy new items that are manufactured in sustainable ways.

I have made it my mission this holiday season to purchase as many gifts as I can from small businesses or from companies that are doing good for the environment. Can I challenge you to do the same?!

Eco-Friendly Wooden Toy Gift Ideas

I’m showcasing three different wooden toys, each with a particular age group in mind. These handmade toys are made out of the most beautiful wood. Each piece is extremely smooth and crafted with precision.

It’s never too early to start teaching the next generation the importance of sustainability and eco-friendly wooden toys are the perfect way to do that. I’m super excited to share them, so let’s get into it!

Alphabet Blocks

The first product to highlight are these adorable wooden picture alphabet blocks. The intended age groups for these blocks are babies and toddlers but a pre-schooler or even pre-K age child would benefit from these. Hopefully you have a grandchild, friend, niece, or nephew who would love to play with these blocks because they are totally incredible!

You guys. I’ve honestly never seen a set of alphabet blocks as high-quality and durable as these ones are. The images and letters on each block are super clear and they are not too heavy, making them easier to pick up or grab.

The alphabet blocks have multiple uses or ways of using them.

Option 1: Pictures Only.

One side of each block contains only pictures. The images are incredibly adorable and whimsical looking. I think my favorites are the strawberry and the whale!

Option 2: Uppercase Letters.

The next side of each block contains uppercase letters. Big and bold, these blocks are perfect for letter identification and early readers.

Option 3: Lowercase Letters.

Then, if you flip the block again, you will find lowercase letters.

Option 4: Words.

The last side of each block contains a word that starts with the corresponding letter and picture of the block.

So good, right?! I am truly amazed at the amount of learning that can take place through the use of this alphabet block set.

Math Blocks

Next up is a set of 10 piece math or number blocks. These are intended for kids of elementary age.

The number blocks are multi-functional, allowing for kids to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and even division!

The blocks can be used with just the numbers, as seen below.

The number or math blocks can also be used with only the picture sides showing, helping kids count a certain amount of something. Children can also play with them in tandem, using the numbers and images interchangeably in the same math equation.

Moon Balancer

The last product I’m sharing today is the smiling moon balancer. This is a great gift idea for kids to hone their fine motor skills but it also can develop their imagination, as well.

The circular shapes that come with the balancer can be placed on the moon in an endless variety of ways.

Isn’t this such a neat way to keep little minds busy while learning at the same time?!

Many of the toys on Smiling Tree Toys’ website can be personalized with a child’s name. You can also purchase wooden crates to corral the blocks but each toy set comes in really nice linen bags, which is just as helpful.
