Finding antiques that speak to you…what does that mean?

Finding antiques that speak to you isn’t as hard as you might think. But, if you have never been antiquing before and walk into an antique store for the very first time, it may be an overwhelming experience due to the sheer number of items all around.

Without knowing anything about anything; the ages of pieces, if the pricing is decent, the rarity of a certain color or style… just explore. Literally turn off your mind and just be and look and walk. If something catches your eye from across the room, go check it out and notice what interests you about that piece. Is it the color? The shape? The texture? The wear that it has? It could be something that is completely opposite from what you imagined you might love but that’s the beauty of antiques; you never know what treasure could work its way into your heart.

As time passes and you continue to visit different antique stores, you may find your style evolving or changing, or you may find that finding antiques that speak to you might start to differ. You may be drawn to different pieces than you were before. That my friends, is what makes antiquing so special and meaningful. As that happens and you start collecting all these various pieces and styles and era’s of antiques, your home begins to reflect that creativity because you are decorating with purpose and hand-picking pieces that make you feel happy.
