Journey Jots #88
Hello, guys! Welcome to August! How are you doing? How has your summer been? We’re flying to Florida this week to visit our uncles and I’m SO excited to dip my toes in the ocean again. It’s been way too long!
I love hearing from you and learning what’s new in your world. Let me know in the comments!
Life Lately
It’s been another HOT week here in the North! I’ve been trying to enjoy the summer but I am SO over the heat and the bugs.
A few days ago, as I was walking Tilly, I literally stepped ON TOP OF a ground bee nest in a really nice patch of grass…holy crap. Talk about an adrenaline rush…I didn’t know I could run so fast! Luckily Tilly didn’t step on it!
See?? I’m over the bugs. I’ll just be over here, longing for 60 degree temperatures, and no annoying insects!
ANYWAYS! I digress. I’ve been doing a lot of thrifting lately because, well, it’s hot and the stores are very air conditioned. Last week, I stumbled upon an ironstone pitcher that literally made my jaw hit the floor. Like…what?!
I’ve also been slowly picking away at my latest paint by number project. This one is so much harder than the previous one I did over the winter! The areas to paint are so much smaller, so I constantly need to wash my brush and open and close paint tubes. BUT! I love a good challenge. It’s super fun to watch this picture start to take shape.
Do you have any guesses as to what this is going to be?? Comment below!
Hubby took some ADORABLE pics of Tilly the other evening. Just look at her!!
As I stare at this picture, I can’t help but see my aging, wise doggy. She’ll be 7 in October but still very much acts like a younger dog. We’ve been researching new dog food for her recently too, because apparently, when a dog is 7 and above, they need different minerals and things for their bones and joints.
I do love her so:)
And, finally, here’s miss Molly playing in a box! She’s so much fun!
Weekly Shopping Finds- Cute Early Fall Decor
I love to start looking at fall decor this time of the year. If you are one of those people too, I’ve found some super cute decor pieces!
- This gold tabletop acorn is adorable, as is this wooden acorn.
- How fall-like is this yellow Magnolia leaf stem?!
- What a pretty floral vase!! It’s reminiscent of brown transferware and I just love it. This bud vase is also so cute.
- This orange fabric pumpkin would look so pretty styled into a vignette. It’s giving off vintage toile vibes!
- How vintage looking is this oak leaf wall hanging?! This would look so pretty in a bathroom.

An easy way to refresh your home for late summer is to choose a shelf to re-decorate. I did that recently in my living room and added faux lemons to it! It’s just the right amount of summer color for the rest of the season.
And, finally, we all could stand to find some ways to save money, right?? In this post, 13 thrifted finds you need for genius budget decorating, I share a list of items that I always thrift. Shopping in this way helps me stay on budget and cut down on costs where I can!
